The ear hears the silence that the eye sees.

MUSIC: Kid Koala - Emporer's Main Course

Ahoy there mateys! I'm sure all y'all landlubbers were wondering if I got lost in Davey Jones's locker but truth be told, I've been caught up in ale and dames by the shipload...you got a problem, then walk the plank, sucka.

New job at tha diz starts tomorrow. Had to buy new threads since they're a little more professional-looking over there and I basically only own tshirts and jeans. Friday was my last day(again!) at VUG and I was sad to go...cool people can make any job worthwhile and they were the coolest. Luckily everyone at the new place is a VUG transplant so hopefully the vibe carried over with em. Went out for drinks on Friday nights...Petron is nasty...and I actually like tequila...usually. Eventually found myself at the strip club from Kill Bill 2. Sadly, Budd was nowhere to be found, but it was still a good time.

The Beasties show has come and gone and it was a damned fun show. They opened with a dog circus...yes, you read that correctly. Little doggies doing jumps, flips, and so on set to really bad carnival music...but it set the mood perfectly. Talib Kweli opened and was great, though a bit hard to understand with the sub-par accoustics...luckily it seemed to sort itself out by the time the boys came out. In between I copped a shirt and Talib's summer mixtape with some tracks from his new album, The Beautiful Struggle (out sept 28th).
The show started with Mixmaster Mike on a video screen walking into the arena, and passing the 3 guys on the way(to crazy applause). He holds up a sign showing off his new album Bangzilla and then steps up to the decks. Dude played a sick intro and then the guys came on and played(in approximate order):

Root Down
Sure Shot
Right Right Now Now
3 the Hard Way
Super Disco Breakin
The New Style
All Lifestyles
Triple Trouble
Shake Your Rump

In between some of the tracks, they had videos of Will Ferrell as Dubya, some fan comments, and other silliness. After Shake Your Rump, the lights dimmed and the stage rotated around to reveal this weird gazebo thing with christmas lights and the guys in bad blue tuxes...WITH THEIR INSTRUMENTS!!! I had heard that there would be no playing of instruments on this tour, but damned if they weren't up there with Money Mark and Bobo in the corner.
They played 3 instrumental tracks, including Sabrosa, Something's Got to Give, and another that I can't remember. The stage reverted to normal and they continued on with....

An Open Letter to NYC
Eggman
Paul Revere
Body Movin'
Brass Monkey
Three MCs and One DJ
So Whatcha Want...the BEST version I've ever heard!
Ch-Check It Out

Lights went down for the encore and when they reappeared it was up in the upper decks near the back of the venue. And they rocked Intergalactic!

Then the house lights went up. Now, I've been to a ton of shows, and when they turn the house lights on, that's all folks. So everyone starts filing out of the arena and buying shirts, etc...when the opening chords of Gratitude start...and hell breaks loose. Everyone plows back inside to see the guys and company back on stage with Mixmaster Mike completely killing Gratitude. Everyone was going apeshit and then they said "one more song"...I'll let you figure it out:)
I think after Underworld and Pearl Jam it was the best concert I've been to and I pray to all that's funky in the world that they come back around soon.

Tune in next time for Girls Girls Girls, reasons why George Lucas isn't crazy, the new Eminem single(the singalong chorus that's hard to sing along to), and tales from Mousechwitz.

Til next time,
No time to search the world around, cuz ya know where I'll be found.

I ain't passed the bar, but I know a lil bit.

MUSIC: Outkast - Reset

Week started off badly with my car dying(in the middle of an intersection no less) on Saturday. Of course no shops are open on Sunday, so it was Monday till it got fixed...and that was $500...two days before rent was due. Now, I'm a big boy. I can pay my bills without living check to check anymore...but god damn I hate spending so much so fast...I ain't Hov after all, I gotta save my greens.

Speaking of greens, I may be making about 50% more in the near future. Had a job interview today(best ever!) and things are looking pretty good. Not going to say exactly where this was, but think mouse ears and it'll come to you;) Yeah, I feel kinda bad bailing on VUG since they took me back so swiftly after the shit went down, but this is sounding like something I just can't pass up. All I know is that if I do get the job, the celebratory dinner is gonna be at Roscoe's Chicken n' Waffles...fa sho.

Check out this sweet piece of bats I got today

My desk finally has a worthy guardian. Evildoers and emo bands beware!

Tibes: Vengeance Multiplayer Beta will be available for everyone on FilePlanet.com next week! Download it and see what I've been working on lately.

Also... http://www.djgreenlantern.com
Lantern has put together a Beasties mix tape(why do they still call em mix tapes when they're on CD's? cuz it sounds cooler, yo) called "New York State of Mind". It's only 10 bucks and the 4 samples on the site sound sick...Placed my order a few minutes ago...I suggest you do the same.

Speaking of the Boys...T-minus 11.5 days till the show. Bodies will be rocked, Mics will be passed, and Jesus(not the Andy version) will return to join them for a 40 minute, 2nd encore version of No Sleep Till Bethlehem.

Til next time,
I'm going to the store to get butter and cheese.
